Review content:
I'm writing this in Dec 2008. If you read older reviews, you'll think oh, dear. But now the new owner has gone out of her way to make shopping at Cast On Cottage a very nice experience. I'm always greeted, whether buying or browsing. I'm encouraged to stop by and just sit and knit. The classes are full, and there's a lot of interaction between salespeople and regulars and newbies. It's very cozy and fun. I do remember the old days, but they're gone, thank goodness! Go now, you won't regret it.
The yarn selection is quite good. I can get a good but not expensive 'everyday' wool like Cascade, or my lovely Blue Sky Alpacas silk, or anything inbetween. There's a nice selection of boutique yarns, and a LOT of good sock yarn. A very good stop for Noro, too. I can't speak to the needlepoint, but that side of things seem to be doing a brisk business as well. I like the selection of accessories like needles and purse handles and whatnot. I never feel pressured to buy lately. I'm left alone to browse, or I can get help if I want it.
It's a very friendly shop, these days, with a nice knitting 'vibe.' The clientelle varies--not young or superhip, but not old and fussy either. Kinda--well--normal. And that works for me. I like it.
