I just moved to this area and came across the positive reviews of Vans on the web and decided to try them out.
They have rectangular slices of almost every flavor of cake you could want displayed in a long case. they also have several sizes of round cakes and ice cream cakes. I was told that the ice cream cakes have a layer of cake in them, no crunchies (like Carvel) or fudge (like DQ).
There is also a vast selection of bulk dried fruit and candies. Everything is labeled in Vietnamese so if you are not familiar with the language you'll have to guess at what's in the bins.
I bought four slices of cake and they were average at best. Two words; light and bland. The icing and cake is the same on all varieties. Only the flavorings and colors are changed.
The cake was extremely light, spongy and basically tasteless. The icing was the consistency of cool whip. The pineapple filling in one of the slices was the low-grade cornstarchy type that is typical in low-end pastries.
I was pretty disappointed because everything looked so inviting in the case. Oh well, I will be back for an ice cream cake and to try my luck at the bulk candy.
