Review content:
We used Sturges & Leatherman for a "Lease Option to Buy" home. First, the "full disclosure" stated that there had NEVER been any previous water damage to the home. After moving in, our neighbor informed us that the previous owner had constant flooding in the basement. Upon further inspection, we found mold in the basement and each time that it rained, the basement would flood while we lived there. This is just the beginning. Our "Lease Option" CONTRACT stated that Sturges & Leatherman would "pay all closing costs" on the home when we decided to purchase. When that time came, Sturges & Leatherman told our loan officer, and I quote, "well, that may be what the paper says, but that's not what we're going to do." Then, I guess they thought we were so dumb that we didn't have a copy of the original CONTRACT. So, they faxed over a copy of the CONTRACT to our loan officer and it was FALSIFIED AND FRAUDULENT!!!!! They had removed the sentence stating that they would pay for all the closing costs, added a sentence stating that the closing costs would be mine & my husband's responsibility, and FORGED OUR SIGNATURES!!!!!!! It looked like they copied & pasted our signatures from the first contract to the second one. When our loan officer asked for a copy of the original contract to see the signatures (since she had the original one in her hand that my husband & I had given her and knew the one they sent over was false) Sturges & Leatherman told her that they would no longer do business with her and that if my husband & I wanted to buy the home, we would have to seek out alternate lending options. Because they refused to pay the closing costs, we were unable to get financing for the home. And they KEPT THE $10,000 we put down on the house (which was also in the original contract that part of that 10K would be applied as a down payment to our loan on the home.) I believe that Sturges & Leatherman prey on young couples who are not in the best financial situation, lie to them, and keep their money. RUN RUN RUN AWAY FROM THEM!!!!!!!!
