Quick service day before Christmas...I do like the hours, service on Christmas Day, too. I like the vet I had - was good at what he did, and a good listener....important to me. I do like the idea that they have such extended hours....because I WOULD NEVER EVER take a pet of mine to the emergency clinic like I did once....a total nightmare for me, my family and my dog....all they were interested in was getting me to sign a statement for unlimited treatment of our dog. We wanted to speak with the vet before we signed this form, and after six hours in their waiting room, waiting for the vet to talk with us, our question to him was, "What are the chances of our dog leading a normal or near normal life after treatment?"....the answer: "Less than one-tenth of ONE PERCENT!!!" We were infuriated at the callus treatment we recieved as a family, that our dog lay in a cage screaming (due to brain injury) and that about every twenty minutes someone would come out to us in the waiting room and try to talk us in to signing a form that would allow them to treat our dog regardless of the cost to our family. We were told to keep our dog overnight we could expect to spend about $2500.00, including testing they would do. We discovered that the kind of brain damage our dog had was not treatable in any way, that the only humane thing to do was to euthanize her. This occurred years ago, and we are still traumatized about this kind of treatment. We would have been happy to spend money on our dog to save her life.....but are still mad that we were pushed so hard to give them unlimited funds to 'save' a dog that had no chance ('less than 1/10th of 1%) of even living for 24 hours!! I don't leave my sick animals with anyone but me....I can give 24/7 instant and constant care, and I can sit right beside them encouraging them to get well - so I don't recommend leaving a pet, unless you can't deal with the situation, like someone else stated in another post about WGAH. So, I will continue to use Webster Groves Animal Hospital at this point. I need good, reliable vet service and so far, so good. I used them about 15 years ago, and was happy at that time, too. Now that we are back here in STL, I plan to use them again. JJ
