Safer Arms Indoor range in Chico has been one of the very few places in the area where you can go in and get great professional advice from a knowledgeable staff on a wide selection of firearms. Everything from blackpowder guns to hunting rifles to handguns to reloading equipment is in stock and available for sale. There is a nice selection of rental guns that you can shoot as a sort of "test drive" if you are in the market for a gun. The range is clean and well equipped for the most part. The only drawback to the range is that you can only point your weapon downrange and fire slowly. Any double taps or presentations from your carry gear (drawing) will get you a polite consultation from the range master. However, In todays litigious society, it may not be their fault. All in all, a great place to shoot, shop or kill a half hour browsing while the wife (or Hubby?) shops elsewhere.
