We're Canadian, and we were looking to get fingerprinting done for employment purposes in the States. We contacted several businesses, and settled on this one since it was close to San Mateo. We talked with the owner on the phone, explicitly stated we are Canadian, and told her we had a Canadian id. When we got there to do the fingerprinting, she was bewildered by our Canadian id's, AFTER she had fingerprinted the cards. She ended up confiscating the cards, and said she would have to look into this to see if she could be "legally protected" -- whatever that means. So we leave, and I call around and find out that this should be a standard procedure, and only Canadian id's are required. So I call her back, and ask if she knew this, and she said that she did some research and that this was ok. She asks us to come back to have it done, and we did, and then she gives us more static about having a residence in Canada. What??? I told her that we have a residence here too, and we can give her the address, and then she gets all flustered and says we have to go somewhere else to do this. Wait, if you're advertising to provide immigrant services, then shouldn't you know immigrant laws and procedures??? Don't waste your time with this lady.
