I fell in love with this property and what it has to offer guests!
The Retreat at m'illumino - http://www.m-illumino.com/Retreat1.htm - is a small cottage adjacent to m'illumino movement arts center at the corner of 70th and Roosevelt Way and the brainchild of director Bridget Thompson.
The cobblestone courtyard that greets guests leads to a paved path and an intimate garden walled by red stucco made accessible by a pair of ancient Chinese gates. A natural progression guides visitors onto the retreat's broad porch and into the cottage that features a queen bed designed by Urban Hardwoods, a Seattle company that uses reclaimed wood in all of its designs. A kitchen, dining and living areas provide all the conveniences of home. The art glass walled shower, steam room and infra-red sauna round out the retreat's amenities that surprise those expecting a more ascetic interior.
The retreat's interior provides shelter while its outdoor features connect guests with nature. The chlorine free, salt water Watsu pool and the chance to practice aquatic bodywork with m'illumino's onsite practitioner are unparalleled in other accommodations. A dip in the pool can be followed by an en plein air shower in a bamboo stall that feels both intimate and limitless as a look up to a starry sky will attest.
From the espresso machine to wireless internet service, retreat guests can choose to use any of a number of services offered at m'illumino and are free also to choose a level of simplicity that best suits their personal goals for rest and reflection.
