Usually, when people think of buffets, they think of a free for all feeding frenzy where only OK food is served in crowded and unpleasant atmospheres. Well, if that's what you think of most Chinese buffets, think again and try East. East is a buffet serving Chinese food such as appetizers, soups, and entrées. East also features a hibachi station, peking duck station, prime rib station(at dinner),many varieties of Chinese salads and fruits and veggies, foods of other cuisines(like American and Italian) and a dessert station too!On 4/10/2007, I was in the mood for Asian food. Since I was in the Huntington area about to shop at Walt Whitman Mall, I decided to stop here for lunch with my Mom. When we entered East, I was impressed with the atmosphere. First off, the tables and booths were spaced well(unlike at Minado where you were squished together), it was clean(restrooms included) as well, and the many windows in the restaurant allowed the sunshine in. Now, onto the food. At most buffets, the food sits out for a long time, this wasn't the case at East, instead all the food was fresh and replenished constantly. First, I sampled authentic Chicken and Broccoli, tender Chinese Filet Mignon, and steamy Broccoli Rabe. After that, I sampled fresh California Rolls that tasted like they were made 1 minute ago and succulent Peking Duck with sweet hoisin sauce on the side. Then, I made a salad with lettuce, tomato, and cucumber, the veggies in this salad were crisp and fresh the way they should be. An array of sinful pastries, an ice cream from the machine, jiggly jellow cubes and fresh and sweet in season fruits reward diners. All in all, it was a satisfying and delicious lunch. Not only was the food good, the service was too, friendly busboys and waiters brought beverages and removed dirty plates quickly. When I was done eating, the price came out to an extremely reasonable $12.15, but that is only because my Mom didn't eat. All in all, East is an awesome buffet that delivers an awesome value.
