Review content:
My husband and I enjoyed dinner at Tavolata last night. It was a busy Friday, but we were able to get a table for two (a booth) immediately. My first impression was, "Toto, we're not in Seattle anymore!" Very New York-Euro in feel. I've read about the noise factor, but didn't find it to be an issue. And the food was yummy. We shared two appetizers ( a salad and veal carpaccio) and each had pasta as our main course. They have a good wine selection and we indulged in hot, fresh beignets (oh my!) and Vin Santo for dessert. Chef Ethan Stowell of Union fame has put together a winning combination in this new Seattle resto. It's fun, casual and hip without being pretentious. Just like Ethan. Reservations can be made for groups of six or more, and you can sit at the huge communal table. Who needs to go to Italy? Buon gusto!
