Hollywood film Producer and FX Supervisor, David Michael Waszak has returned from Hollywood after hitting it Big in Hollywood. Waszak, 36, has returned to Michigan to screen the first domestic film he produced, the cult thriller Rachel's Attic (R) along with the now classic short film, A Tribute to George A. Romero based on The 1968 classic, Night of the Living Dead. The short film won 1st place in the Rob Zombie short film contest in Detroit from WRIF Radio.
Producer John Russo of the Original Classic said the film was very well made and first screened at the Zombie Jamboree in 1993 in PA when Waszak was just 23 years old. The short was the fist film Waszak wrote, produced, did the fx and directed on his own. David started his film career at the young age of 9 years old after seeing the re-release of the Original House of Wax in 3-D at the Carousel 1 & 2 Theatre in Warren and further realizing his love of make-up fx and film making after seeing Making Michael Jacksons Thriller in 1993. Since then he has over 60 credits to his name, including Bowling for Columbine, The TV Series Monk on USA and the TV Drama, Without a Trace.
The Screening at the Madrid is part of a nationwide tour of the films and independent trailers from across the country and Hollywood. Local filmmakers are welcome to submit there trailer for approval. Screenings are set for this Spring. With screenings in Chicago, Westwood, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Detroit Metro Area and New York.
