Review content:
We ordered our wedding cake from Montilio's and were delighted with our choice. The cake was absolutely gorgeous with home-made pastillage flowers - a rare commodity in this area. We received many compliments on the cake as being delicious and moist. I was also pleased that they had agreed to use a special filling that we had requested but wasn't on their regular menu (strawberries and peaches).
Five years later, we decided to use Montilio's again for our daughter's Christening cake. For sentimental reasons, we wanted the same flavor as our wedding cake, and they cheerfully agreed.
Unfortunately, when we went to the bakery to order the cake, they had lost the book of pictures of other cakes, so we didn't really have any guidance on what we would be getting. The woman at the counter was not terribly helpful either in describing what options were available to us.
When we got the cake, it was rather plain with a small cross. It was OK but nothing spectacular. The cake itself was moist and fine, but the filling was VERY SKIMPY. Not many strawberries at all. This was not a cheap cake - about $80.
In hindsight, I wish I had skipped the sentimentality and gone to Konditor Meister.
