I never had a worse experience at any other boat repair facility. Bob, the owner, give me the business. My son installed a bad spark plug,so I had a misfire on my outboard motor but my son did did not tell me until I spent $1875.68 at Bird Island. When I took the boat in for service, I told Bob that I would not spend more than $1500.00 to get the motor running smoothly, and to call me if the repair exceeded that amount. He called with a repair estimate of $950.00 and I said OK fix it. When I picked up the boat I had to pay $1875.68 to get my boat back. The repair bill included a stator, powerpack, carburetor rebuilds, gearlube, and sparkplugs. All the installed parts were dirty and used but I paid for new parts on my receipt. They sold me used parts and charged me for new parts. All Bird Island had to do was install a new sparkplug and the motor woud run perfectly. I know this because my son told me that he put in a bad plug because he was mad at me for not letting him use the boat one day. I have no recourse, but you should know that Bird Island will take advantage of you when ever they can. I have talked to other people about Bird Island and I found out that the Island had a lot of ONE TIME CUSTOMERS. I wish I had researched them before letting them work on my boat.
