I work with a bunch of hockey players, and one of our best customers/friends is Ken Hodge, who is an ex-Bruin and actually the CEO of The Genesis Fund. Somehow, the idea of a charity game between our squad, The Yale Burners and The Bruins Black and Gold Legends was drawn. Only problem(one of the many as it turned out) is that we did not have a goalie. I volunteered even though I had not played hockey in almost 30 years. Goalies just stand there, right?
The practices are hard enough for me. Never put yourself in a position to stop a puck from a guy who you just gave a bad evaluation
But I digress. I decided to pay for some private lessons from Robs' school, and he has placed me in the very capable hands of Brian, an ex pro hockey player. A word about Rob first: He really cares about these kids. He and his wife Chrissie started and run this school. He gives a ton of scholarships to underprivileged, aspiring hockey players, and will raise money for families that have fallen on hard times.
As far as the lessons are concerned, Brian is unbelievable stressing the basics and offering a very hard workout. I watch him and wonder how the heck did anyone score on this guy. As far as my progress, I am much better, but The Legends have nothing to worry about.
If you have kids and they want to play hockey, this is by far the best experience they will ever have
