Review content:
I went to Gene Reed Toyota in North Charleston, SC looking for a 2006 Corolla. I found a 2006 Corolla S with about 5,000 miles on it that I really liked. There was a very nice salesman named Mark that test drove it with me. He understood my needs and my motivation for buying. He quoted me a price of 16,000 and some change. We proceeded to the office where we could work on a deal and he took my keys (a usual tactic to get you to stay) so they could look at my camry (that I was trading). In the meantime, he had his manager come talk to me. The shady, very stereotypical "used car salesman" manager noted that I was a single mother and low and behold he was a single parent too! (I don't appreciate him getting that personal with me and mimicking my lifestyle). Amongst all the b.s. this guy was selling me he informed me that Mark had made a mistake. The Carolla S was REALLY $21,000 and some change! Even though a 2007 Corolla is nowhere near that price! In essesnce, because I was a single woman shopping alone, the manager at Gene Reed Toyota in Charleston assumed I was a moron and would buy his overpriced car or be talked into buying a brand new '07 Corolla, which he would make a better commission on. I want to note that I have talked to three people in addition to the shady manager and NONE were appologetic. All they cared about was whether or not I wanted the car, not the fact that I they had offended me. So if you opt to go to Gene Reed anyway, stay away from the young punk manager guy, because he's really full of it.
