This is a fabulous school!!! My daughter started here last fall as a kindergartener and we couldn't be happier. The school has a terrific public service curriculum, employs a buddy system (science buddies, reading buddies, etc.) between lower and upper grades to foster a sense of community, and the weekly chapel meetings instill a general spirituality and respect for all faiths (including having no faith at all.) The school uses the city of Oakland as its campus, and strives to reflect the full diversity of Oakland in its student body. They've undertaken a huge campaign to expand the campus, and finished phase one with the opening of the brand new middle school last fall. An early elementary center and new lower school library is next. Give this school a strong look -- it's a gem.
