Art Deco Dental-I was new to the area and this is one of the dentists that took my hmo plan. I called them to schedule a cleaning and they gave me an appointment with Dr. Suzuki. Nice, small office. Cable tv on ceiling to watch as you wait in the dental chair. I brought my Xrays and waited for awhile until the dentist came in. He took a look at my teeth and dictated notes to his assistant. Then I was told to go back to the waiting room while the receptionist took the notes and came up with a treatment plan. She stated that I had many cavities and conditions on some teeth where almost root canal serious. The total price for treatment came to $750. This "treatment plan" included numerous scheduled appointments to take care of each tooth one or two at a time. I was Ok with this because I figured my insurance would cover most of it. She then informed me that the $750 was actually my out of pocket expense. I asked about my dental cleaning and was told that I would have to come back for my cleaning after all my dental work was completed. At that point, I believed everything. I thought maybe my teeth were in a horrible state, yet I had felt no pain. I went home depressed with the knowledge that I would have to spend so much money on my teeth. Then I began thinking, I take good care of my teeth and I don't eat sugary foods so I decided to look online to do research on this dentist. I discovered on yelp.com that two former patients had written about their experience with Art Deco Dental. Both reviews said that they were quoted lots of work from Art Deco but then when they sought a second opinion, the second opinion stated that they needed little to no work, saving them a considerable amount of money. With this information, I decided to seek a second opinion myself. A coworker referred me to Dr. Steven Hayes in Pleasant Hill. He doesn't have the state of the art ceiling tv or fancy murano lamps but guess what! He looked at my xrays and my teeth. and you know how many cavities he found? NONE. He said I obviously take good care of my teeth and was surprised that I was given a horrible diagnosis to begin with. Do you know how good it feels knowing that I don't have to pay $750!! I am so thankful to yelp.com and Jill R. whose review was up there to warn me about Art Deco.
