I am writing a story about my experience with cancer, but wanted to make sure that I could let as many people know that she saved my life. There were symptoms of endometriosis (I had a history) so after rescheduling 3 times because of work being so busy, I got to see her for an exam. She gave me the usual very thorough exam and agreed that we needed to take care of it, but after I made an appt with a surgeon because she felt a lump on my left breast. Yes, it was cancer and I needed a mastectomy I was told by a surgeon at another hospital. She wanted me to feel comfortable and knew that I would get to see a surgeon where I worked, at another facility. She received no credit for this or additional money, but only cared about ME. The surgeon I saw asked who my OB/GYN was, and he responded "She's good, I am not sure I would have felt that!" She is the best in my opinion, and I am through with chemo and will make an appt this week for my annual exam. Even though you get a mammogram each year, and do self-exams, it is so wonderful to know that you have an OB/GYN who is looking out for your best interest and each patient is just as special as the next. I just wanted to share my story, a very brief part of it...the part where Dr. Gina Hamrang saved my life when I was 44 yrs old!! I hope this helps someone else by making her your OB/GYN.
