The Market on Clay Street in Downtown Mebane is a charming place to eat lunch, sample the latest wines with Mark (the owner), or browse their unique selection of gourmet foods. The menu features their special sandwiches, salads and soups -- the selection is not huge, but the quality is A+. A must try is the chicken salad wrap with a side of potato salad, the Southern Salad with cabernet sauvignon dressing, or a slice of one of their special cakes with a scoop of Maple View ice cream. The owners and staff are friendly & helpful and the service is excellent. A stop at The Market on Clay is a must when you visit Downtown Mebane!
