Review content:
I suffered with messy periods for years. It was embarrassing. I was afraid I’d have to have a hysterectomy like my mother. I saw my regular gynecologist and she told me we could try birth control pills, but if they didn’t work then a hysterectomy would be necessary. I’m 37 and I didn’t want to take hormones day after day for the next 10 years until menopause.
So I confided in a good friend I remembered had heavy periods too. She recommended I see Dr. Scott Kramer in Fremont for a second opinion. He did a procedure on her called Microwave Endometrial Ablation in his office over 2 years ago and she hasn’t had a period since! She told me it only took a few minutes and she was back to work the next day. She said she had a few cramps, but no big deal. It didn’t effect her hormones and it was covered by her medical insurance too.
I was a little reluctant to see a male gynecologist, but Dr. Kramer was more compassionate than any women doctor I’d ever met. He took more time too, explaining why I had heavy periods and giving me different treatment options. If anything, he steered me away from hysterectomy. I was so relieved. He did an ultrasound of my uterus and checked my blood count (I was a little low on iron).
Just like my friend, a few weeks later I did a Microwave Endometrial Ablation. That was about 4 months ago and I just have to share my story. Too many women don’t know about this treatment for getting rid of heavy periods. Best of all I did it in his office at Women’s Health Specialists, avoiding the anxiety and expense of trip to an operating room. It was easier than getting a tooth filled at a dentist.
I got rid of my periods and kept my uterus. I traveled over 30 miles to Dr. Kramer’s office and it was worth it!
