Businiess name:  Roti Indian Bistro
Review by:  Dave C.
Review content:
I went to this Indian restaurant in Burlingame, a tawdy downtown catering to those owning BMW's and Mercedes, and not much else. Don't drive into town with a Ford; the police will arrest you for impersonation of a person. Once there, I went to Roti's, based on the 2 reviews on Judy's Book. What a sham. For lunch, I called in for take out. I asked if their prices for lunch were the same as for dinner, expecting a break. No, the pleasant woman said, all's the same. I ordered some Navradan Korma. Did it come with rice? No, I was told. An extra $4. Guess I'd like some naan. $4 for the garlic naan. Total bill for LUNCH...more than $18. For lunch! Drove home, not in my Lexus, or BMW, or Mercedes. Ate the food. Horrible. Absolutely horrible. The sauce was nothing but sweet. No nuance whatsoever. Who was the cook? Did he/she get their training at Applebees? The naan? So saturated with oil a simple napkin couldn't remove all the grease from my fingers. I kept having to use Dawn on my fingers to bring them back to a ph within range of normal. Might as well have had Safeway make the food. If you really want good Indian food, trek north, another 20 miles, and travel down Geary St. until you reach Great India, about 23rd and Geary. Rarely busy, always incredible in its offerings. Keep this place open by frequenting it! I am not in any way connected with Great India. But I adhere to their sublime seasonings, and good service, and great prices. The same meal would have cost me 1/2 what I paid at Roti. The gas used would not have made up the difference. I would have come out ahead, economically, and gastronomically. Good luck to you at this place in Burlingame. Oh, and be careful where you park!
