If you are in search of a "non-traditional" location for your wedding in Traverse City, I definitely recommend you visit the City Opera House in downtown Traverse City. The Opera House has been a part of Traverse City's landscape since 1891. It is a gorgeous space that is currently in its final phases of renovation/restoration. The main ballroom is a perfect place for a wedding. The high ceilings (which were handpainted), the wrap around balcony and the beautiful wood floors are such a magical setting for a wedding. The space can quickly be converted to handle the reception as well. The lobby space is often utilized for the bar area and dessert/cake areas. Part of the restoration process including making the building handicapped accessible (it is on the second floor) and adding air-conditioning. These two features really added to the comfort and accessibility. To view photos or to learn more about the City Opera House, visit their website at http://www.cityoperahouse.org/
