I ENROLLED MY 7 YEAR OLD SON IN THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM BECAUSE WE JUST RECENTLY MOVED TO THE AREA. WE HAVE NO FAMILY IN THE AREA IT IS JUST ME AND MY FOUR CHILDREN. I TALKED WITH THE HEAD OF FINANCES IN REGARDS TO MY MONEY SITUATION WHICH IS EXTREMELY TIGHT. I BASICALLY LIVE PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK, I WAS GIVEN A SUBSTANTIAL DISCOUNT FROM THE YMCA BUT IT STILL WAS A LOT THEY WERE ASKING FOR. SO I CALLED BACK AND TALKED THE SAME PERSON HE ASKED ME WHAT I THOUGHT I COULD AFFORD I TOLD HIM AND HE SAID OK DON'T WORRY WE WILL WORK SOMETHING OUT. I ASKED TO MAYBE WORK THERE AT THE YMCA DURING THE DAY OR WEEKENDS ANYTHING JUST TO HAVE MY SON LOOKED AFTER. HE IS MUCH TOO YOUNG TO STAY ALONE AT HOME. HE TOLD ME HE WOULD GET BACK WITH ME TO TELL ME WHAT PLAN WE COULD MAKE I TOLD HIM OK HE NEVER DID THE NEXT TIME I HEARD FROM THEM WAS A WEEK LATER ON A WED. AT APPROX. 3PM TO TELL ME THEY WOULD NOT BE KEEPING MY SON AFTER SCHOOL ANYMORE DUE TO NON PAYMENT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED PREV. TO THIS THAT THEY WOULD NOT KEEP HIM, I WORK AN HOUR AWAY FROM THE SCHOOL I WAS FRANTIC WHEN I CALLED THE YMCA THE GUY I HAD DISCUSSED ALL THIS WITH WAS NOT IN SO I TRIED TO TELL THE GUY THAT I WAS SPEAKING WITH WHAT THE OTHER MAN HAD TOLD ME. HE DID NOT CARE ALL HE WOULD SAY WAS THAT THEY NEEDED THEIR MONEY, A FEW MINUTES LATER ANOTHER PERSON CALLED ME AND BASICALLY TOLD ME THE SAME THING THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE KEEPING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER BUT YET ALL THEY WERE WORRIED ABOUT WAS THEIR MONEY. I DID NOT APPRECIATE THE WAY THEY HANDLED THE NOTIFYING ME OF THEIR IMPENDING ACTION. THEY DID NOT KEEP THEIR WORD TO WORK WITH ME OR GET BACK WITH IN REGARDS TO THE SITUATION. THEY LEFT ME IN TEARS AND NO DAYCARE FOR MY CHILD.
