When you shop at Hy-Vee Grocery, you can purchase gas at Hy-Vee Gas at a discount. Sometimes the discount is as much as $0.08/gallon, which is substantial. The original gas prices (before the discount) are never inflated and always match those of competing gas stations. So, with the Hy-Vee Gas discount, you truly save as much as $0.08/gallon.
And don't think you have to spend hundreds of dollars at Hy-Vee Grocery in order to get the gas discount. Even if you spend $0.50 on a pack of gum, you still get the same discount.
Whenever I need gas, there's always something else I need, too, such as milk. I make a quick stop at Hy-Vee, pick up my $1.50 gallon of milk, go through the super fast self-checkout, and save $0.08 per gallon on gas.
