Review content:
Riverside Family Restaurant is one of those places that puts a smile on your face when just thinking about it. It has a cozy, warm ambiance, not found in most eateries. And like its moniker, yes, it does face the river - Tittabawasee River. Ask for a table or booth on the river side (back of restaurant) and you'll see all kinds of birds pecking away in their feeders. While we were still living in the tri county area 10 years ago, Riverside opened up and quickly became a popular place with good food, wonderful service and the best home made pies! (There are as many as 25 flavors listed on the board). You can't beat their low prices for the ample portions and selection. I love how I can choose from many sides to accompany my entree. Unlike most restaurants, Riverside gives you 3 sides to choose which more than fulfills your hunger pangs. They serve sandwiches, popular dishes such as roast turkey and stuffing, roast beef, baked or fried chicken, seafood as well. There's plenty to try different plates without repeating often. My favorite is liver and onions - done just right. Since we moved 142 miles away we still make a point to visit our favorite place when in the area. One waitress even remembered us after a long absence. They accept cash, credit, or checks. I must warn you that on weekends there's a line waiting. No reservations taken here. Well worth a visit to Freeland just to have a good meal. Rated $-$$
