Review content:
When I went to Baker's Square with my husband I thought I was taking him to a pretty decent place to eat. When I lived in Auburn a long, long time ago I went to Baker's Square often and was impressed with it. However, the only thing impressive about this Baker's Square is that it is still open for business.
The food is mediocure compared to what it once was, but what really ruins your meal is the service. I had a waiter who looked fresh out of middle school and didn't seem to know that he was actually supposed to be on the clock. He spent most of the meal outside, chatting away on his cell phone and smoking while we waited... and waited... and waited... and then when he occasionally deemed it necessary to take our order and bring it to us, he constantly refered to my husband as "Bro", as in "Yo, what cho' want to order, bro? We's gots some fine eats!!!". I'm not asking for anyone to call my husband sir, but at least he shouldn't have to endure being called "Bro" 27 times (Yes, we counted! We had nothing else to do! Our waited was too busy on the phone to bring us our food or even take our order!). We were constantly waiting for our refills and the other waiters flat out refused to get refills for us or do anything else. We had to wait 20 mins for him to get off the phone and ring us up!
On top of that, the manager (I presume) had her 10 year old son bussing tables. Why was he not in school? Isn't that illegal? I felt sick to my stomach watching this little kid trying to carrying dishes and wiping down tables.
Everytime I drive past Baker's Square the parking lot is empty or very near empty. This is why. Just don't bother, unless you really hate the person you are taking to dinner.
