Businiess name:  Whidbey Island Soap Co & Mad
Review by:  Melinda L.
Review content:
While visiting Whidbey Island recently we went to the Whidbey Island Soap Company in downtown Langley and had a ball spending nearly $300 on some beautiful towels, soaps, lotions and other bath items. I bought 3 sets of very expensive towels that are made from Bamboo and cotton (seemed like a good idea~~I love the idea of using sustainable resources like bamboo) but after only 2 washings the threads are coming out and I am quite displeased with the quality of these towels. I found their email address and wrote to them right away and never got any response. So, then I called them and left them messages and never got any response. Finally, I discovered that they actually have the wrong phone number printed on their bottles. So I finally got a hold of them today and the man who owns the store (he owns it with his mother) told me that he would not take the towels back because we had used them~~excuse me, but how are we supposed to find out if they are good quality or not if we never used them? He told me to call the manufacturer. That is ridiculous. If he cannot even stand behind the towels that he sells, then he deserves a big THUMBS DOWN from me and a terrible rating on Judy's Book because he (not the manufacturer) should be responsible for my satisfaction as a customer. Plus, I wrote to him right away and he claims that his website is working perfectly but that he never got my email. BOO! DON'T SHOP THERE!! RESIST THE TEMPTATION! I wish I would have!....UPDATE!!!! About a month after I published this, David, who owns the store and is so smarmy and condescending actually called Judy's book and lied to them about offering me my money back and Judy's book called me and said "Since the situation is resolved, we are going to go ahead and remove your post." This store owner is such a baby and a bully that he actually got Judy's book to agree to rescind a perfectly accurate review of a business. I pointed out to Judy's Book that I accept my ratings without kicking and screaming (My business has a total of 12 reviews...10 of them 5 stars, 2 of them 4 stars) when I get a 4 star review and feel that it is unjust I don't go crying to Judy's Book. I pointed that out to them, and they reconsidered and allowed my post to stay. Whatever drivel David T. says about the way he handled my towel issue is all wrong. all lies and all b.s., and I have a very high trust score in the JB community and he has squat. By the way...after using his expensive bamboo/cotton towels for about a year they look about as good as the towels we bought from The Bon (sniff...before it became Macy's) we bought 12 years ago when we moved into our new home. So, again, not worth it.
