Review content:
The School for the Performing Arts offers much more than it delivers. The "director" has credentials in professional acting, but does not offer a coordinated and well thought program of instruction. Additionally, the remainder of the instructors are drawn from the Iowa City Community, and come and go through a revolving door, as the director hires and fires at whim and with little thought. This organization has a history of many music directors and many other short term supporting staff, all of whom have left with a great deal of anger. The board has suffered similar abdications, as responsible individuals have resigned in frustration after observing many unprofessional activities. There is an underlying feeling of disorganization due to poor internal communication and an undermining of efforts.
