My wife & I recently went to Waverly Beach for Lunch during the week. The view [even during Winter] is nice from their bar. We sat at the bar, and had decent service, with very few customers in there. The Menu has simple things that most other places have. They also have a "Quesadilla Salad", but it is just a salad. You see Quesadilla on the menu and think "Hey!" You can't get one, let alone with chicken or shrimp, but you can get a salad. Add a Quesadilla with SW Chicken or Island Spice Shrimp! Most places have a Quesadilla. With a very small/typical menu, I opted for a Bacon Cheeseburger, Med. Rare. It came to the bar quickly, but then our bartender/waitress was on the other side of the bar for the whole meal. The burger was Well Done. It was hot, but Well Done, and not juicy at all. The fries were good. My wife had Chicken Tenders, and they were pre-breaded "Sysco" type product. At the end, we paid our bill, and I mentioned the burger. She said, "Oh, sorry about that..." but then gave us our bill. After paying $8.00 for a burger, I left feeling annoyed. The food has really gone down hill there in the past 2-3 years. We also went out for the Sunday Chicken dinner a few months ago, and the chicken wasn't good. It used to be crispy outside, and juicy inside. Some was overdone, and others pink in the middle. The recipe used to be spicier. All in all, the burger and the chicken strips, blandness of menu, and slightly higher prices, make us not want to return. I would ask Waverly to review their menu, and go around Appleton looking for creative ideas, and add them. Then, trim the price a little. Tanner's makes their own Beer Batter Chicken Tenderloins, and they are "to die for"! Tanner's has a wide variety menu, and great cooks. I don't know what happened to Waverly, but awesome food doesn't seem a high priority. Offer a Grilled Shrimp Skewer appetizer as a suggestion, espcially in Summer. Oh yeah, the Tiki Bar in the Summer is very cool.
