Ok at a recent employer, a fellow worker was always after a panini....I am like and that is what now?? You know me and my little Cajun ways, if it doesn't involve a roux, I have no clue.
So I was taken to the Demitasse Coffee House, and found that much to my surprise, a Panini is the best thing since sliced bread.
For all of you who, like me, don't know what a panini sandwich is, let me give you a description and believe me words don't do this justice.
A panini is a sandwich on french bread, but instead of slicing the poboy bread/french bread across the bread to make a 12 inch sandwich, a panini bread is sliced downward making two breads, about 1 1/2 inches thick.
The panini breads are then grilled on both sides and then dressed like any other sandwich. I love and highly recommend the roast beef...it's to die for.
The panini sandwiches are served with a serving of scrumptious potato salad and a pickle spear. WARNING only order the large panini if you are really hungry or feeding more than one person. I ate my large panini for 2 1/2 meals.
The atmosphere of the Demitasse is like no other coffee shoppe/dinner in the area. They offer tables outside with those lanterns burning for evening treats, as well as a very cool, quiet dining experience inside. It's located on St Mary Highway, inside of Debbie's Antiques shop. Yes it has an antique shop attached, right up my alley.
