Review content:
I am a young mom, and I still shop in the so-called "teen" stores. In this instance, the DEB shop. Most malls have one of these, and they are cropping up in more and more strip malls, as well. I like their clothing, and love finding deals on their clearance racks for cute shirts. About 2 years ago, we finally got one of these shops in our town. My first few trips in were uneventful. I didn't find helpful employees, but they were not rude at that point. In more recent times, I've gotten some VERY rude employees who don't care to help the customers. In fact, they seem to prefer gossiping and ignoring the customers to actually helping. One particular trip stands out. It was cold out, and we had just gotten our taxes back, so I'd guess it was around March at the time. I went in to do some quick shopping, and found an armful of things on the clearance racks, and headed up to the front counter. At the front counter, there were 3 people waiting in line in front of me. Behind the counter, there were 4 people standing around. One was an assistant manager, 3 were regular employees. The person being helped wanted to change something, or grabbed the wrong size, or something similar, so they told her to go ahead and take her time and grab what she wanted. In the mean time, instead of canceling out her previous order, they held it in suspend mode. Basically, they let it sit. And of course, they did not open another register. So while me and 2 others stood waiting, the 4 of them stood talking. Meanwhile, more people were getting in line behind me. As we got more annoyed, I started listening into their conversation, which was basically about what party they were going to this weekend, and who was going to "get wasted" first. The talk even turned sexual at one point. Since then, I have written to the company, and written reviews on other sites, and have gotten a reply from the company, but they were "Unable to help at this time", because I could not provide the exact date & time I was in the store. I found that unacceptable, to say the least. Many people bring younger siblings or even their own children into that store, and to hear the employees talking of sex and alcohol is not the type of place I want my child. To top that off, the customers come first, not the employees private lives. If there are customers waiting, you help them. You open another register, or you cancel out the first order. All in all, I waited in line nearly 10 minutes before putting my stuff on the counter, and walking out.
