Review content:
I have been to the Great Escape every summer for the last ten years. It has always been an old-fashioned amusement park with a water park attached. My kids grew up there, and I have a soft spot in my heart for it. It was always a little less high-tech than other parks. A few years ago, Six Flags bought it, but, until this year, did little to change it.
This year, Six Flags built a hotel with indoor water park, built fences around the dirt parking lots, black-topped them, and now charges for parking. They also built another hotel alongside it. I guess they are trying to upgrade it (including the admission price). They have added a whole Loony Tune section, and you can have brunch with Goofy, etc. I don't think, personally, that this bodes well for the future, but I guess to some people this is a great improvement.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area with kids.
