Review content:
I have been with Liberty Mutual for nearly 20 years now. The prices are comparable with other insurance agencies. These are people I live around and trust, probably my biggest reason for staying with them. Background: Liberty started in North Canton years ago on Whipple Ave. the company was quick on claims and did not question you one bit, because we all live around one another. Then change happened, they moved to Dressler and it became harder to talk to my Agent, but his assistant was always more than helpful. Again, another change and they moved to Akron, which now is nearly a 40 min drive on a good day to find. The changed carriers of claims so I deal with people who live in PA! Not a good thing either. I have had three incidences, the first two were no problem, a fire which was dealt with swiftly and a check was cut right away and housing found for us. Second was a lightening strike that pretty much killed every electronic device in this house from the stove to all the computers. No problem, within two weeks all was well. My rates did not increase. The last time my house was struck I had to deal with PA, darnit was I ever peeved. I pay my deductible, now I need to get an "electricity specialist" to come out to the house and inspect all the equipment failure. This was $150/hr charge, but he doesn't do computers. Anyway, he check the stove, refrig, three AC's, microwave, TV's , phones, DVD, and game consoles. His conclusion after four hours..."power surge caused these problems, I cannot say it was an exact lightening strike but it is a definite possibility". The carrier customer service were less than helpful. I am now out my deductible, $600 for a consult and I still have to take the computers to a computer specialist so they can write a letter as to the cause of destruction. Again, the customer service bit! I had to finally contact the insurance commission to get any service. Then they got the ball rolling, which made the carrier even more irritated, but hey 20 yrs at $1546.00/year is nothing to sneeze at. I was then informed that my things would be depreciated and replaced accordingly. I was not permitted to out right buy the replacement. I was sent merchandise that was less than what I owned for instance, my compact flat screen was replace with this big honking AOC monitor (not happy), my computers were replaced with refurbished computers, my Amana was replaced with a Roper and my Southern Bell phones were replaced with Uniden phones. I was still out the money for all the letter and consultations. I love Liberty the actual agent and staff are awesome but the PA carrier is the one with issues.
