Review content:
Pennings Orchard is a popular farm market and garden center located on Rt. 94 in Warwick, NY. Enter its large parking area, and you'll see some of the most beautiful plants and flowers anywhere in the Hudson Valley. On a recent day, there were huge hanging baskets, clay pots, flats and small flowering trees of every variety. Check out the handcrafted Amish made outdoor furniture made of mahogany, oak and pressure treated woods (this stuff is made to last). Take a wagon and stroll the garden center and greenhouse. Ask questions of the nursery staff who'll help you pick just the right additions for your home garden. Pennings also has a farm market which is adjacent to its nursery and garden center. This large barn like structure is home to some of the freshest produce (locally grown fruits and vegetables), cheeses, homemade baked goods (breads, pies, cakes, cookies), coffee, seafood and local products (soups, spices, health & beauty items, marinades and sauces). Stop by the seafood market and pick up something for dinner--don't forget a container of homemade clam chowder or Portugese fish chowder. Delicious. You can even purchase fresh milk in a glass bottle here which is quite a treat for this city girl! Hungry? Visit the popular food stand and ice cream counter right outside the store. You can enjoy freshly prepared seafood cooked to order (try the coconut shrimp and sweet potato chips) or the standard hot dog, hamburger, and fries. Sit at one of the many picnic tables on the property and don't forget to visit the "farm" which has goats, calves, hens and roosters who are just waiting to share your lunch (for a quarter, you can give them a handful of feed). Get a frozen soft serve custard to enjoy on the way home! www.penningsfarmmarket.com
