Review content:
We stumbled on Tangerine during a walk from the Mission to the Castro, feeling adventurous and in search of a change from our usual Sunday breakfast ate the Pork Store (okay, I was in search of change, my boyfriend would have been happy with another plate of PS veggie sausage and eggs, but he acquiesced).
We found Tangerine. And the clouds parted and the sun shined. All it was good. Very good. The layout is clean, but cozy with lots of gauzy fabrics and a wall full of windows that lets in natural light.
One look at their brunch menu and I knew this was not our momma's old breakfast spot. Exotic and suprisingly yummy coconut Pancakes are served with ginger syrup. For the less adventurous, they have organic buckwheat pancakes are made with fresh Blueberry and servied with sliced bananas, yogurt, pecans and 100% maple syrup.
Egg dishes are all excellent and inspired. Omelet combos like Avocado, bay shrimp, spinach, mozzarella cheese and salsa OR
Shitake mushrooms, asparagus and Vermont white cheddar all tickle the palate.
Specials rotate each weekend, but also keep an eye for the macaroni pancakes....look wierd...taste good.
Never been there for dinner, but I hear the menu is just as good and they offer daily weekend deals, including:
2 for 1 beer, wine and cocktails on Monday
20% off all dinner menu items on Tuesdays
A complimentary glass of Coppola house wine
with your entrée on Wednesday
and a $9.95 entrée special of the day on Thursdays.
