San Joaquin Valley College is on New Stine Road close to a McDonald's. I got my A.S. degree in business when I found out I was pregnant with my second child and from my time there, I noticed that a lot of the people who went there, were there because they felt they were at the end of the road and didn't know what course to take with their life or desperately wanted to make some changes. It's at an accelerated rate and you go to school Monday through Thursday. For the most part, the teachers were very nice. When you're done with SJVC, you gain help with job placement and typing tests for the rest of your life. The only thing I didn't like is that it costs more to go here (although you can get a student loan) then it would have to go to BC but for me, I didn't have the time to go to BC so SJVC was the next best choice. In Bakersfield, these are the programs they have available: Business Business Administration Corrections Officer Emergency Services and Safety Management Health Care Insurance Specialist Medical Clinical and Administrative Medical Assisting Dental Assisting Pharmacy Technology Surgical Technology Technical Maintenance Technician Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology Their website is: http://www.sjvc.edu/
