While on a summer 2004 trip to Table Rock Lake and nearby Branson, Missouri my family stayed at Kimberling Inn Resort and Conference Center located in Kimberling City, Missouri. We stayed in a three bedroom lock-out condo courtesy of my sister (it is her time share). Kimberling Inn Resort and Conference Center has a total of 84 units. Our condo consisted of a main unit and a lock out unit. We used both during our stay. The main unit consisted of a kitchenette with dishwasher and a complete set of cooking pans and utensils and service for four. There was a separate dining and living room, two bedrooms, two full baths, only one was accessible only from the master bedroom. There was also a patio/balcony with entrances from the living room and the master bedroom. The lock-out consisted of a small kitchenette, full bath and kind size bed with a sofa and coffee table. There was also a table and two chairs. Both units had washer and dryers within the unit. Also, both had an open floor plan with a counter with seating for two separating the kitchen from the remainder of the unit. Furnishings were plush and new looking. Everything was tastefully decorated in a Mediterranean decor- all neutral tones, of course. The couches in each unit could be made into a pull out bed. The two bedroom can be made to sleep a total of six people and the studio lock-out can accommodate four. What services are offered? Clean towels are put in the room every other day, but you can exchange one for one at anytime. At house keeping you can also do a mid-week sheet exchange. Trash is emptied every other day. House keeping is open between eight and four. When we arrived, the condos at Kimberling Inn Resort and Conference Center were standard bathroom supplies (no shampoo), trash bags, automatic dishwasher soap. For a fee you can have your beds made with fresh linens, your unit vacuumed, and the unit sanitized and deodorized. Is it really a resort or just a condo unit? Kimberling Inn Resort and Conference Center does offer the following on-site: two pro-sized tennis courts, three outdoor pools, one indoor pool, 18 hole miniature golf course a playground, and a small but adequate health club. There are also three restaurants. The Garden Terrace, The Pier, and Ahoy’s Food and Spirits. The first two are indoor restaurants. We didn’t try either of them. We did try Ahoy’s Food and Spirits, which is located right off the docks and has ample outdoor eating space. My family of five had four hamburger and fry plates, one fish and chips, no drinks (we ordered to go). Our bill was $40 dollars and some change. Everyone liked their burgers, their fries were stale and cold, and the catfish was rare in the middle. I don’t think we will go back for eats, but there is live music on the weekend, so that is a possibility. Within walking distance from Kimberling Inn Resort and Conference Center is a shopping center complete with a bowling alley! Closing thoughts: We were allowed to bring out two small dogs, so that was a plus. When we checked in, we had to place $100.00 on our credit card. Sure beats a kennel fee for a week. We liked the TV’s in every bedroom and in the living room and the decor was beautiful. We didn’t like the beds -– they were way too soft even for my husband who enjoys a soft bed. It was difficult to maintain a comfortable temperature in the units. Ceiling fans would be a huge plus. Finally the only calls that are free are a 739 prefix. We couldn’t even connect to the internet with our laptop, because you can’t change long distance calls to your room. All in all, this was a good experience. We spent a lot of time at the pool and fishing off the docks. Kimberling Inn is only about 30 minutes from Branson, but we didn’t attend any of the shows. We did take in a few of the sites but those are for other reviews!
