Review content:
Steve Ray has years of restaurant experience that have helped him open a wonderful place in Northwest Austin called Mesa Ranch. It has that classy Texas steakhouse feel without being too overwhelming. on a given night you may see folks dressed up for a date, office workers commiserating over drinks, or a family in shorts just having an evening away from home. Mesa Ranch is classy without bruising your credit card. Standouts include the fried cactus appetizer, the creamy avocado cilantro dressing for the house salad, a perfect filet with roasted asparagus, the tender and juicy quail, and the recent addition of tender spicy pork ribs. It's hard to go wrong on this menu, especially in the realm of meat and game. There are some chicken and fish options as well, including an excellent grilled trout. Desserts are largely made by a gifted local baker Amy, and the carrot cake is perhaps the most divinely inspired slice to ever cross a plate.
