Review content:
The atmosphere and decor of this place is what truly makes visiting the 94th Aero Squadron a unique experience. It is desined to look like a bombed-out building from World War I. There is exposed brick, sandbags and various military ordinance scattered outside the place. Once inside, however, you have an excellent fine dining experience waiting for you complete with some entertainment for the younger set.
The food is quite good. Yes, it is a little pricey. Whether or not you feel it is pricier than the food merits, I will leave for you to decide. I never really felt that way and I have always enjoyed my entrees. I have also always enjoyed the Squadron's excellent selection of desserts.
Some of the tables (notice I say SOME. You may have to request them) have headphones. Why? Well, the 94th Aero Squadron is situated right next to Wheeling's Palwaukee airport. You put on the headphones and you can listen in on the talk between Palwaukee tower and the incoming and out-going planes. Palwaukee may not be O'Hare or Midway but it is big and busy enough to have traffic and that makes it very interesting listening.
So, enjoy the food. Listen in on the tower. Imagine you are in World War I France and enjoy the experience.
