On a recent Sunday, I went there with a friend who used to work nearby. She had fond memories of the restaurant. The good news was that the food was still excellent, and the prices hadn't gone up much. The bad news was everything else. The place was slow, a total of 10 customers divided between 3 tables and the bar. One waitress/bartender was handling this small load, which didn't seem too bad. Then we found out that she wasn't really a bartender, and had limited skills as a waitress. We ordered one of the place's signature mixed drinks, water to go with it, and an iced tea. She said they were out of tea, so that got switched to lemonade. She quickly returned with a lemon-lime soft drink and a weirdly distorted version of the mixed drink. When my friend pointed out that it tasted like it was missing some of the ingredients, she took it back and made another one, which tasted like bad vodka with food coloring. She replaced the soft drink with something that was closer to lemonade [it was very weak, but at least it was lemon-flavored and uncarbonated], but didn't bring the water until late in our meal. She seemed unable to cope with a request for salad dressing on the side, and never mentioned that some of the offered salad dressings would go badly with the house salad blend, which included somewhat bitter greens. Compared to the drinks fiasco, though, those were minor. Late in the meal, she apologized for things not going well, but only at the very end did she indicate that she was a beginner at bartending. Given such a small crowd, she wasn't very attentive, considering all the mistakes and corrections. Folks from a nearby table had to strain to get her attention, to repair or replace their drinks as well, so it wasn' t just us. We paid for everything, including the undrinkable drink, but left no tip. Pros: Great chicken specialty dishes Cons: Service all smiles, no skills
