Review content:
If you would like to go a restaurant for dinner, wait three times longer than you were told you would wait when you walked in, and then be told you are not going to get a table at all, then the Derryfield is for you! I took my girlfriend to the Derryfield for dinner on a Saturday night at about 8:45. We were told when we walked in that it would be about a 25 minute wait, so we went to the bar to get a couple drinks while we waited. After about 40 minutes we made our way back to the dining area to see if a table would be opening up any time soon. The manager and hostess were obviously avoiding us. After about an hour the hostess approached us and told us that there were several parties finished eating, but that they were just ordering drinks now. I asked if perhaps the parties that were just ordering drinks should be asked to drink in the adjoining lounge so that the parties waiting for a table in the dining room to eat could sit down and eat. She said she could not ask anyone to leave their table. After about an hour and fifteen minutes, the manager approached (the same manager that told us we would have about a 25 minute wait for a table) and told us that we probably would not be getting a table at all. I asked if there was a distinction between the dining room (for dining) and the lounge (for drinking) and he said that there was not. Don't bother making reservations at the Derryfield... your chances of getting a table are completely dependent upon whether or not the people with reservations before you feel like leaving or not - and regardless of what the manager tells you when you walk in the door, you're always liable to wait over an hour and then have to leave if you really want to eat.
