...but all of them are happy to call around to find your book or magazine at another one of their shops if you can't find something specific. While some describe their service as lacking, I've never had that experience: as soon as I make eye contact -or approach anyone- I get wonderful, knowledgeable help. It's been about 2 decades and I am without a 'negative experience' memory!

I love that these shops are here in our neighborhoods and on major bus routes to wander in if I'm bored or to head to when I have a specific need -and that there's an upbeat staff with lots of answers & ideas. On the days when I don't find exactly what I am looking for - I can still leave with an intelligent and heartfelt recommendation tucked under my arm, or a cool item that isn't a book- or a few cards because sending cards is fun & they have very cool stock.
****
I have a lot of admiration for the indie coalition of bookstores, and I find the pamphlet of reviews that they put out to be very helpful- and it's fun to read reviews from all over the country, in places I used to live growing up!
****
As I am not one to turn to the internet for books or music, as I find that to be much too personal (art!) I do appreciate that Pegasus & Pendragon have snazzed up their web presence. The last thing I want to see around our towns is more empty storefronts. (Shudder!)
****
Thanks to the locals with the knowledge, who will always get me what I am looking for, and the chance to pay anywhere from $6-8 per book instead of 14.95 plus tax or the like is really good news to me. I love to save money, and their books are always in really good condition or heavily discounted. (You know I am going to have to visit one of them today; writing this has me feeling very bookish!)

Thanks for reading- and the asterisks are for the lack of paragraph breaks here in the reviews, fyi!
