You can see the Astoria Column from just about anywhere in Astoria. The last time we walked to the top, my sister was pretty small and she slid her leg through the rails at the top and it got stuck! My dad happened to have a wrench in his pocket and had to take on of the bars off in order to get her leg loose. She was scared to death.
The stairs, 164 of them to be exact, to the top are very steep, narrow and windy so you have to be careful and watch your step. But it's well worth it, the view from the top is beautiful! You can see the entire city and the ocean. It's rather windy up there too!
