Review content:
I could spend days in this little shop. Everything about it is aesthetically pleasing, and draws you in to stay. Everywhere you look there is something new to discover and enjoy. I never make a trip to the lakes without stopping here.
The theme is overwhelmingly nautical, but The Golden Mermaid also has a wide variety of items, including paintings, women's clothing, children's books, stationery, ink pens, and many other novelty items.
The owner of this establishment is incredibly welcoming of small children considering all of the small items that could be broken or disrupted here. I have always been made to feel welcome, when making a $7 purchase (my yearly carved sailor man purchase), a larger purchase, or no purchase at all, I am always greeted with a friendly smile and encouraged to return when I leave.
I love that this shop has something available for all budgets, from just a couple of dollars all the way up to as much as you want to spend.
When you have finished your shopping and are ready to leave, the amicable owner will ask you if any items are gifts that she can prepare for you. I was amazed to find that for no fee she will wrap your item attractively in a gift bag with beautiful tissue paper and hand-curled ribbons. When I visited there last week she was very pleased to prepare four gifts for me in this way.
Located on a corner of Main Street, this little shop is hard to miss, and even harder to leave.
