Review content:
Sometimes to find a truly great meal you have to be willing to drive a little bit. While you sit in your apartment or condo overlooking Lake Michigan in downtown Chicago you probably don't think that it might be worthwhile to drive nearly forty-five minutes to the suburbs for a steak. If that is your attitude then the Millrose Restaurand and Brewing Company in Barrington Illinois may not be the place for you.
Located at 45 S. Barrington Road in Barrington Illinois the Millrose is deceptive at first. It looks like a gigantic red barn. That would be because it IS a gigantic red barn. The barn was found by the man who started the restaurant, transported across country and placed in Barrington. The barn is humongous and gives the entire place an intimate quality.
The menu is amazing. Chicken, barbecue, steak, fish are all available. Try the Filet Mignon and you won't be disappointed. The pork chops are fantastic and so are the mashed potatoes. The entire place has great atmosphere and is the perfect combination of being fancy enough that you can go there dressed up and casual enough that if you are wearing jeans you won't look out of place.
The prices are more than reasonable and not over-priced. The selection is great and no one I have ever taken there has had a complaint about the food or the service.
One weekends and holidays like Mother's Day or around prom season you may want to call and make a reservation first.
