Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

Review content:
Sometimes you just simply get tired of the same old same old when treating the kids on a hot summer night. Rita's is a chain but locally owned. They keep a very clean atmosphere and fair prices. Flavors change regularly and there is always at least one sugar free version on tap.
Italian Ice is served in a cup, much like a slushie but not quite the same. I personally love the gelato style where they mix it with a little old fashioned frozen custard (no, custard is not ice cream).
While I've never eaten any of the food items from the place, I don't think they're really known for the food as much as for the wonderful fresh flavors of Italian Ice and Italian Ice products.
The one big drawback is the parking, being right off of Peach Street and Gore Road can be a little crazy in the summer with people avoiding the Peach Jam. Parking is limited but you can always walk across Gore Road from the PNC Bank parking lot area.
Watch the newspaper for coupons! And Rita's sells Gift Certificates as a nice treat in a birthday card or thank you to a friend for taking you around town.
