Review content:
CrossFit has completely transformed me as a person. In my quest for fitness I had tried the endurance thing - triathlons, long distance running, etc, and I had tried the traditional body-building type of weight lifting at the "globo-gym" but none of it left me with useful strength/endurance that had real-world applications. Then I found www.crossfit.com.
It was like a religious experience when I read "World Class Fitness in 100 Words" - this was EXACTLY what I was looking for but had never been able to articulate myself. And fortunately for me, CrossFit Tri-Cities had just opened up in St. Charles a few days before.
The trainers were fit and friendly, and the equipment simple and functional. My first workout took 15 minutes and completely kicked my butt - I knew I was hooked. It's been a year for me now and the workouts still kick my butt and I feel and look better than I ever have in my life.
It's more than just the obvious physical benefits as well. The confidence you will get from knowing you can complete these workouts spreads to other areas of your life and you find yourself completing projects you would have otherwise quit, and starting things you never would have had the guts to tackle before.
But even though the workouts are unlike anything you will find anywhere else, it's the people that keep brining me back. There is such an incredible community of great people here. Where else will you find a group of people that cheer on the person coming in last louder than the person who came in first? They're not just a bunch of meatheads or fitness fanatics, just great people that I look forward to seeing at the gym and hanging out with outside the gym as well.
