Businiess name:  Safeway Food & Drug
Review by:  Michael W.
Review content:
The name of the supermarket has always mystified me. It suggests that other restaurants are somehow hazardous or at least that shopping at other grocers may result in pregnancy or a nasty rash. But in all seriousness, safeway is not safe when it comes to your grocery buying dollar. If you compare the best Safeway sale prices to the sale prices of Giant's or Shopper’s or Magruder’s, you will find them to be higher. In addition the produce is always overpriced, and the deli items are stale and poorly constructed. The one positive that this way of safety has is selection and cleanliness. The store has a wide selection and is always well swept and wiped. But, the knowing grocery shopper will buy their fruit at Grand Mart, their veggies and meat at Magruder’s, their eggs and milk at Costco, and their canned and frozen doodads at Shopper’s. Juice is a toss-up, but what is certainly never a toss-up is the fact that Safeway never has the best prices. Look around a little, wait a week or two, and you can beat their sale prices every time.
