This shop is conveniently located near our house. The manager is very friendly and a very front-of-the-house kind of manager. She doesn't just sit back and push paper. They carry the usual brands. North Face, Kelty, Columbia, MSR, and they even carry some Prana yoga/activewear.
Their prices are higher than some outdoor stores I'm used to, but most of those are in the south where things are not as expensive as they are in the northeast.
They offer guided tours and lessons, especially with kayaking. They also offer rentals on tents, kayaks, and other equipment. There is a full selection of maps, but limited books if you want them.
I'd shop here for the Prana yogawear alone, but the staff is really easy and friendly to work with, I don't feel pushed or rushed at all.
