Review content:
I went to EXY for a happy hour event and was so impressed with the service and delicious cocktails, that I decided to stay with some friends for dinner. The Ouzo-tinis are amazing and the restaurant boasts an extensive wine list, which is very fairly priced - some bottles are priced below what other Gaslamp restaurants charge.
We ordered a bottle of wine and I had the scallops, which were three of the biggest scallops I've ever had, slightly seared on top and moist and tender in the middle. The dish came with a risotto, which had a lobster tomato taste to it. A good size portion of everything was served. In a word - DELISH! Bread service too. I think my scallops were just over $20.
The dessert we tried was the chocolate torte. It came with a raspberry sauce and a little bit of whipped cream on top. It was dense, yet smooth and melted in my mouth. A+ dessert.
Our server was great. Not in that cheesy "i want a good tip" way, but genuinely friendly and made us feel welcome. The chef even stopped by our table to check and see how our meal was. We were there on a Wednesday night and the dining room was busy, but not packed solid.
Pros: Great Value. Food and Service
Cons: Limited Street Parking
