Review content:
This is a lovely restaurant in a beautifully restored historic building in Oregon City. The ambience is warm with lots of beautiful woodwork, the walls are lined with historic photos, the booths are intimate. Given the crowds of people we have seen here for dinner, we figured it must be good. However we were very disappointed in the food. We went for breakfast, and sampled a variety of dishes. For starters, the tomato juice was served ice cold in a frosted glass, just as it should be. The supposedly fresh OJ tasted like it came from a can, however, and cost 50% more. The pear hazelnut french toast was mushy (cheap bread), and the pear slices were hard as a rock and thus flavorless. The maple syrup tasted watered down. The corned beef hash was not a hash at all, but just strips of tough corned beef with large soft (not crispy) potato chunks and topped with eggs. The toast was nice artisan-style bread, but came unbuttered, making it hard to butter once cold. For the fairly high prices, there wasn't much food. (either bring the prices down or increase the portions). Also, if you are going to offer a kid-friendly dish like PB&J french toast, it should be offered on the kids menu, too. The service was generally good, except the waitress whisked away the butter and jam while the kids were still eating! Overall a pretty place, but not worth it for the mediocre food.
Pros: Lovely ambience
Cons: Mediocre food, high prices
